January 2010

After the mysterious suicide of her younger brother, Cassis returns to Japan to say goodbye to his memory, but instead journeys to the land of the dead on a quest to put his soul to rest. November 2009

By day, Usher is a young, black, gay songwriter in search of his dream. By night, Usher is, well, an usher, in search of his dignity. This sassafras new musical follows his struggle to be heard in a world of entitled Broadway theatergoers, M4M Craigslist ads, his beloved Liz Phair, and one Lord-have-mercy of a mother and father.

WRITERS JAM

SESSION

July 2009

When we stormed the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with eight writers together and over twenty actors, we knew stuff would get real. And after two action-packed weeks of flying pages, frantic rewrites, and theatrical magic, a bumper crop of plays sprouted in a stunning variety tastes and types including: Bleed, Cloaked, Diagram of a Paper Airplane, Jada's Journal, King Lear, Memory is the Mother of All Wisdom, My Secret Language of Wishes, Romeo & Juliet (Remix), and Strange Loop.
