PRODUCTION FUND

Any playwright will tell you the only thing harder than getting a new play produced the first time is getting that play produced a second time. In an industry which is ever more concerned about world premiere status, Playwrights Realm is helping lead the field with an antidote to “premiere-itis.”

The Next Stage Production Fund incentivizes regional theaters to produce our playwrights’ plays by helping to fund subsequent productions at regional theaters across the country. Playwrights Realm actively seeks out like-minded partners in major cities across the U.S. who we believe will further elevate the piece. It is the next logical step in ensuring that the life of a play (and thus the career of a playwright) continues to grow and thrive, and it is one more example of how we maintain long-term relationships with our playwrights.
