Application Question Details

In addition to basic identifying information, you will be asked to respond to the following questions when you apply for the Playwrights Realm's programs:

Writing Fellowship

  1. At what stage is your play now? What development has the script undergone thus far?

  2. How would your play benefit from the Writing Fellowship’s intensive 9 month development process? What aspects of the script would you like to focus on in such a process?

  3. How would you describe where you are in your career? How would a Fellowship with The Playwrights Realm benefit you now?

  4. What brought you to playwriting? What inspires you to keep going?

  5. If there are any specific artists, particularly directors, you'd like to work with on this play, please let us know. And please indicate if you already know them. (Optional)

Scratchpad Series

  1. At what stage is your play now? What development has the script undergone thus far? What aspects of the script are you still working on?

  2. A Scratchpad Series process is meant to be tailored to your needs. How would you want to use the 15 hours and what specific goals would you have for the process?

  3. How would you describe where you are in your career? How would working with The Playwrights Realm benefit you now?

  4. What brought you to playwriting? What inspires you to keep going?

  5. If there are any specific artists, particularly directors (if based in NYC), you'd like to work with on this play, please let us know. And please indicate if you already know them. (Optional)

Dual application

  1. At what stage is your play now? What development has the script undergone thus far?

  2. How would your play benefit from the Writing Fellowship’s intensive 9 month development process?

  3. For the 15-hour Scratchpad process, would this more limited time serve your needs effectively? What would you want to focus on?

  4. How would you describe where you are in your career? How would working with The Playwrights Realm benefit you now?

  5. What brought you to playwriting? What inspires you to keep going?
