Founding Artistic Director
Before founding The Playwrights Realm in 2007, Katherine was a freelance director and the Artistic Associate at Classic Stage Company. She was the Directing Fellow at The Public Theater's Shakespeare Lab, a member of The Soho Rep Writer Director Lab, and of New Georges. In 2014 she was the recipient of the Lucille Lortel Award from the League of Professional Theater Women. Katherine is a graduate of Brown University. Her favorite snack is dark chocolate anything (she avoids keeping it in the office but that just means she ends up eating the office gummy bears).
Roberta is a Tony-nominated, Olivier Award-winning theater producer who has developed and produced plays, musicals, and event theatre on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally, in the West End, and on tour. Roberta has been a speaker on the topic of producing and equity and inclusion in the arts in multiple forums, like BroadwayCon, NYU/Tisch, Yale University, Juilliard, and Commercial Theatre Institute. She is a graduate of Yale School of Drama's Theater Management program and Wesleyan University. Roberta is from Brazil and currently lives in New York City, with her daughter, Bianca. Her favorite snack is White Cheddar Cheez-Its ("far superior to the original flavor").
Associate Artistic Director
Prior to joining the Playwrights Realm Team, Alexis was a literary agent at Bret Adams Artists Agency, and before that, Alexis worked as a freelance director, producer, dramaturg, teaching artist, and beyond. She has appeared on panels for organizations such as the National New Play Network, the League Of Professional Theatre Women, and the Musical Theatre Factory. In Fall of 2017 Alexis was named one of the Interval's "Women To Watch". Alexis is on the advisory board of SPACE on Ryder Farm, is an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and is a graduate of Northwestern University. Her favorite office snack is White Cheddar Pirate’s Booty (not quite sure what they’re actually made of but they’re real good).
Céline is a dramaturgically minded, financially inclined arts advocate whose work has ranged from administrative to literary. She has been The Realm’s General Manager since 2016 and has previously worked with Playwrights of New York (PoNY), The Lark, The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, PlayGround SF, and Silicon Valley Shakespeare. She is a graduate of Sonoma State University where she earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts and a B.S. in Business Management. Her favorite snack is gummi bears - there’s a jar on her desk marked “Céline’s only”.
Jena is an arts administrator who has previously held positions at Theatre for a New Audience, Roundabout Theatre Company, The Santa Fe Opera, New Harmony Project, Futures and Options, and Nashville Children’s Theatre. She also freelance produces and stage manages when she finds a project she really loves. She has a Bachelor’s in Theatre Management from the University of Evansville. As a native of Nashville, her favorite snack is a moon pie. Mallomars are an adequate northern substitute.
Francisco is an Argentinian-born, Brazilian-raised writer with a journalism and marketing background. Before working at The Realm, Francisco lead digital marketing and social media efforts at companies like NYU and Itaú. He's a graduate of Tisch's MFA program, and a Disney ABC Writing Program, Ars Nova Play Group, and The Lark's Van Lier New Voices finalist, and his plays have been developed at The New Group, The Lark and the Failbetter NYC reading series. His favorite snack is Cheddar and Sour Cream Popchips Ridges, but since they're usually out, he can settle for Tangy Barbecue.
